Mamadou Abib Diop, born and educated in Senegal, begins his academic journey at the École Supérieure Polytechnique in Dakar, where he obtains a DUT in chemical engineering in 2002. Eager to enhance his skills, he continues his studies in France and Switzerland, earning a Master’s degree in Process Engineering from Claude Bernard University in Lyon and a specialization at INSA Lyon. He further completes his training with an executive certificate in strategy and another in corporate finance at HEC Paris, before starting an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration in Geneva.
With over fifteen years of experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, he has worked for renowned companies such as Dow Chemical, Solvay, and Biogen, where he led major investment projects, improved the reliability of facilities, and enhanced the competitiveness of factories.
Upon returning to Senegal, Diop takes on the role of General Manager of the Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR), which is the leading company in the country in terms of revenue and meets over 80% of national fuel needs. Under his leadership, SAR evolves into a modern and competitive player, engaging in key projects such as the construction of a new refinery and the development of petrochemicals.
Mamadou Abib Diop thus embodies a generation of leaders capable of merging international standards with the aspirations of a future-oriented Senegal, strengthening the country’s energy sovereignty.
