During a recent visit to Nigeria, ARDA Executive Secretary, Anibor Kragha toured the AP Ijora Terminal in Lagos and met with Ardova Plc’s leadership, including Chairman Dr. AbdulWasiu Sowami, Managing Director Dr. Abiola Babatunde Ojo, and other senior executives.
Conversations centred on a challenge that extends far beyond Nigeria – how Africa builds the infrastructure needed to deliver clean, reliable cooking energy to the hundreds of millions of households across the continent who still depend on solid fuels.
Closing that gap is one of Africa’s most consequential energy transition opportunities, with implications for public health, gender equity, deforestation, and economic productivity alike.
Ardova Plc’s progress was instructive. The company has built an integrated LPG infrastructure network spanning key Nigerian locations, anchored by a combined storage capacity of 30,000MT, including West Africa’s largest LPG storage facility at Ijora. Distribution already reaches beyond Nigeria’s borders into Niger, Chad, and Cameroon – a glimpse of the kind of regional model the continent will need to replicate many times over.
Speaking about the visit, Anibor Kragha commented:
“What stood out most was the clarity of purpose behind the investment: infrastructure built not just to serve a market, but to expand access for households, businesses, and communities long underserved. This is the kind of foundation that determines whether Africa’s clean cooking transition remains aspirational or becomes a living reality.”
As Ardova Plc joins the ARDA community, we look forward to working alongside the company to advance clean energy access, strengthen regional energy security, and accelerate the continent’s shift to LPG and clean cooking solutions – in Nigeria, across West Africa, and beyond.
