ARDA to Host First-Ever LPG Forum in Côte d’Ivoire: A Catalyst for Cleaner Cooking Solutions Across Africa

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – October 2024: The African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) is proud to announce its inaugural LPG Forum, set to take place at the Noom Hotel in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from October 22-24, 2024. This landmark event, themed “Revolutionizing LPG Adoption and Long-Term Sustainability as a Cleaner Cooking Alternative Across Africa,” aims to address critical challenges and opportunities in the LPG sector across the continent.

Building on the success of ARDA’s virtual workshop series, the LPG Forum will gather key stakeholders in the African LPG value chain, including regulators, project developers, and financiers. Participants will collaborate on essential areas to enhance LPG consumption and promote sustainable energy solutions.

The innovative agenda for ARDA’s LPG Forum 2024 will delve into key drivers and regulatory frameworks necessary for fostering a conducive environment for LPG markets in Africa. Discussions will include best practices for establishing a robust LPG supply chain, ensuring accessibility and affordability, and financing viable LPG investments. Additionally, the forum will explore the role of LPG as a crucial transition fuel in Africa’s energy transition.

A highlight of this event will be a keynote address from ARDA President Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, CEO of the National Petroleum Authority in Ghana. The forum will also feature a site visit to LPG terminals and depots in Abidjan, courtesy of Petro Ivoire.

On the final day, expert speakers from S&P Global will provide a complimentary training session, offering the latest insights and updates on Africa’s oil and refined product markets. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts, discuss key issues, and gain valuable knowledge.

Anibor Kragha, Executive Secretary of ARDA, stated, “ARDA strongly believes that LPG for clean cooking is one of the best short-term options for Africa to reduce its carbon footprint. As such, our association plans to host the LPG Forum on an annual basis to promote policy frameworks for LPG adoption across the continent. This vital initiative is made possible through our partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the IEA, Global LPG Partnership (GLPGP), World Liquid Gas Association (WLGA), Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA), Shell Foundation, African Finance Corporation (AFC), African Development Bank (AfDB), Standard Bank, and others.”
