Tidiani Ben Al Houssein is a prominent professional in the oil and banking sectors in Mauritania. After completing his secondary education at Lycée Terrasson de Fougères and Askia Mohamed in Bamako, he pursued higher education at the University of Dakar and the National School of Engineers of Mali, although these studies were interrupted. His professional training includes programs at the Technical Institute of Banking and the French Institute of Petroleum, as well as training in oil company management at HEC Canada.

His career began at Banque BIAO (now BIMA), where he held various management positions from 1973 to 1981. Subsequently, he served as an economic advisor for the employers’ association before founding the Society for the Promotion of Artisanal Fishing in Mauritania. Between 1987 and 1990, he also established several companies, including SORECI Pêches and SORECI Voyages. Since 1990, he has been the General Administrator of BP Mauritania, which evolved into Elf Oil and then Star Oil Mauritania. In 1999, he also served as the General Manager of BMCI while chairing the Executive Committee of Elf Oil Mauritania.

Today, Tidiani Ben Al Houssein is the President and CEO of STAR OIL GROUP and several subsidiaries across West Africa. He is also involved in various professional associations, notably as President of the Professional Group of Oil Companies. In terms of charity, he is a member of the Rotary Club and has contributed to social actions with the Red Cross. In recognition of his contributions, he has been awarded the titles of Knight and Officer of the National Order of Mauritania.
