Marième is the Director General of the African Refining Company (SAR) since November 11, 2020 after leading, from November 2016 to August 2020, the UFC-MCA Senegal II which was in charge of the coordination, formulation and preparation for the implementation of a Compact focusing exclusively on the energy sector. In her tenure at UFC-MCA Senegal II, she led an interdisciplinary team and coordinated the intervention of several stakeholders at the institutional, technical, civil society and private sector levels. The Compact consists of a portfolio of projects capable of removing the major constraint on Senegal's economic growth related to the high cost of energy and low access to electricity.
Previously, Marième held the position of Director of Roads within the Ministry in charge of infrastructure and land transport, from April 2013 to January 2018 (cumulatively at the UFC-MCA between November 2016 and January 2018) where she worked on the development and implementation of the strategy for implementing the road transport policy taking into account spatial mobility, connectivity, regional integration, rural accessibility, urban mobility, road safety, environmental, social inclusion and gender dimensions
In her professional career, she has also held various other positions and had various experiences, including Technical Director of the Road Network Maintenance Fund, Managing Director of a private company and high-level positions in public agencies. This has allowed it to work directly with leading development partners such as the World Bank Group, the European Union, the African Development Bank, the Millennium Challenge Corporation etc.
An engineer in civil engineering, specialized in road infrastructure, Marième also holds a university degree in integrated quality, safety and environmental management system.
Mariéme has been President of ARDA since January 2021 and acclaimed by ARDA Members at their Ordinary General Assembly
