Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ARA Week 2020 was first postponed from March and ultimately held from October 5 to 7 on the virtual Zoom Platform. The event attracted several VIP Speakers led by Mr. Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of NNPC and Mr. Cheikh Bedda, Infrastructure and Energy Director of the African Union Commission who both actively supported the ARDA’s AFRI Clean Fuels Policy.

In line with our Association’s drive to serve as Africa’s leader in the continent’s transition to cleaner fuels, the ARA Week 2020 sessions also focused on the imperative for cleaner fuels, considerations for transitioning effectively to cleaner fuels, sustainable financing for the African Downstream and enhancing Africa’s overall energy security.

All topics covered were of great relevance to ARDA Members and other key stakeholders as they strategically position their various organizations to take advantage of the projected surge in demand for petroleum products in Africa over the next two decades.

The ARDA also shared the revised structure of its seven (7) Work Groups (WGs) to serve as forums for sharing best practices amongst its Members, Sponsors and other stakeholders. The WGs have been set up with a new organization structure to enhance efficiency and interactions amongst Members and include a Secretariat staffed directly by the ARDA HQ personnel.
